Sink Faucet Flow Restrictor

A simple aerator with a flow restrictor replacing the standard screen in the mouth of the faucet is a great way to save water and the energy required to heat that water.

The average residential faucet has a flow rate of about 3 to 5 gallons per minute. Adding an aerator that mixes air with water increases the shower-like spray while reducing the amount of water used by more than 50%. In addition, the “foamier” water from faucet aerators “wets” objects better than an ordinary stream of water.

The lever on the flow restrictor can quickly and easily cut the flow to a trickle to save water while brushing teeth, washing dishes, etc. The swivel allows the flow to be directed.
