The Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment awarded the Alliance center with the Environmental Leader gold Award on October 21, 2008. The Colorado Environmental Leadership Program (ELP) is a voluntary program designed to recognize and reward organizations and businesses that demonstrate superior environmental performance and, as a result, consistently operate at a level that goes beyond mere compliance with environmental regulations.

Current Program, Tier or Level, Criteria / Timeframe for Development

Bronze Achiever
  • Recognizes facilities that have made significant achievements in improving the environment of Colorado
  • No serious violations for 1 year, criminal for 2 years
  • P2 efforts such as energy efficiency, waste minimization, water conservation
  • Do not have a functional Environmental Management System in place,
  • 1-year recognition
Silver Partner
  • The Silver Partner Level is for facilities seeking to achieve Gold Level membership or higher, but do not have all aspects of a functional EMS and/or do not meet all of the eligibility requirements.
  • No serious violations for 1 year, criminal for 2 years
  • Commitment to develop an Environmental Management System with milestones that must be met each year
  • Multi-year recognition (not to exceed 3 years)
Gold Leader
  • Must have in place a fully operational, facility-specific Environmental Management System (EMS) with goals
  • Must meet the beyond-compliance requirements for the Gold tier
  • No serious violations for 3 years, criminal for 5 years
  • 3-year recognition and may be renewed
